Learning-Teaching Training 1

Ankara, Türkiye / July 30-31, 2024

About Meeting

The Learning, Teaching, and Training (LTT-1) event for the Food Literacy Project took place in Ankara, Turkey, from 11-15 October 2024. Hosted by ODTÜ-MEBİVA, it brought together key partners, including Compass GmbH, EKAPDER, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Mardin Artuklu University, and Euroactiva.

Throughout the five-day event, participants engaged in a range of activities aimed at deepening their understanding of food literacy and fostering international cooperation. The event featured interactive workshops where attendees explored food systems, sustainability, and food security. These workshops were designed to encourage collaborative problem-solving and the development of practical solutions to food-related challenges.

Participants also visited local farms and agricultural projects supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, offering them a firsthand look at sustainable farming practices and the challenges faced by farmers in Turkey. These field visits provided valuable insights into the real-world applications of food literacy in agriculture.

In addition, the event included cultural exchange sessions, where participants shared insights into their respective countries’ food cultures and discussed how food literacy can be integrated into local education systems and communities. This exchange fostered a deeper appreciation of diverse food practices and strengthened the collective understanding of food literacy across Europe.

Collaborative planning sessions were held to outline strategies for continuing the project beyond the LTT event. Partners worked together to develop educational materials, plan future training sessions, and explore ways to engage local communities in promoting food literacy.

The event also provided numerous networking opportunities, enabling participants to build stronger partnerships and collaborations. By the end of the LTT-1 event, participants had gained valuable knowledge and skills, which they were eager to implement in their own communities to promote food literacy and sustainability.
